Step-by-Step OSAP Guide
OSAP Application Guide
1) Fill out the online OSAP application.
- Fill out the online OSAP application for the upcoming academic year at www.ontario.ca/osap. There is no application fee when you apply online.
- If this is your first time applying online for OSAP, you’ll need to create an account using your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- It is quick and easy to use and your information is secure. Your application and the OSAP website is available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- You may be required to submit supporting documentation e.g. proof of citizenship, marriage, separation/divorce papers, affidavit and child tax benefit. Please note that some documents may take longer to retrieve, so you may wish to start gathering this documentation early.
Students are encouraged to submit their application at least 4 weeks prior to the start of classes in order to receive your funds at the beginning of the school year.
2) Complete the Consent, Declaration and Signature pages.
- Once the application is submitted, print and sign the Consent, Declaration and Signature pages from the OSAP website.
- Upload your Signature pages and other required documents using the online OSAP upload system. Documents may also be submitted through the Niagara College Financial Aid and Awards Office.
- Log onto the OSAP website using your OAN and password.
- Select “Go to my applications”.
- Under “Check Status” select the “Print/Upload” link.
- Scan and upload your documents.

3) Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA)
The Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) is a legal document that outlines your responsibilities and the terms and conditions of accepting and repaying your student loans. The MSFAA is a multi-year agreement.
- The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) will send you an email when it’s time for you to register for your online account and complete your MSFAA.
- Instructions will be provided online after you submit your OSAP application.
Important: DO NOT send your MSFAA form to Niagara College.
So you’ve been approved for a student loan… what’s next?
4) Check your application’s status online.
- Log on to your online OSAP account to check the status of your application.
- Make sure that all the required documentation has been submitted and approved.
- For students starting in September, your OSAP assessment should start to be available in June.
5) Pay your fee deposit to Niagara College.
- A mandatory non-refundable, non-transferrable tuition deposit is required for all students each term – see: Tuition Deposits and Due Dates.
- For new students confirming after the tuition deposit due date, the Admissions Office will provide you with a new due date within 1 week of receiving your confirmation. Please check your tuition invoice through the My Financials section of MyNC.
