T2022 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate

The T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate is a tax form used to certify a student’s eligibility for the education and textbook amounts on their income tax return.

T2022 forms are not mailed out. Instead, they are accessed through MyNC. Tuition listed will only reflect program enrolment or courses taken within the current tax year. The T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate issued by Niagara College will show the amount of eligible tuition and fees assessed, not the amount of payments made.

Submit your Social Insurance Number

For instructions on how to provide your SIN number through MyNC – see: Submit your Social Insurance Number for Tax Purposes.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires all post-secondary institutions in Canada to collect Social Insurance Numbers (SINs) to be included on the T2202 certificate.

How to Access your T2202

To access your T2202:

  1. Log in to MyNC.
  2. Click on “My Financials”.

The T2202 will be made available on or before the last day of February.

What fees are eligible for an income tax deduction?

Not all tuition fees are eligible for deduction according to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

According to the CRA, you CANNOT claim the following on your T2202:

  • Material fees
  • Communicable disease screening fee
  • Student Administrative Council fee
  • Health plan fee
  • Installment fee
  • U-Pass fee

Please note: if you are on a co-op term you are not considered a full-time student.

Education tax credit

The federal education and textbook tax credits were eliminated in 2017. To see if you are eligible to claim a provincial or territorial amount visit canada.ca/guide-t1-general.

Part-Time Studies

Online and in-class courses qualify for the Tuition and Enrolment certificate if the course fee is more than $100.00 and the course is eligible according to the rules listed by CRA under Eligible tuition fees.
